Questions every family asks

It is a multi-sport program for children aged 5 to 7. Instead of training in one sport, children play, try things out and get to know several — a deliberately broad start in sport. Classes run once a week, on Saturdays from 11am to 12pm, at the Brooklin · Baetinga unit in São Paulo.
Several, and that is the whole point. We do not specialize children in any one sport: we introduce the sports so they can choose. A single class can bring out a basketball, a volleyball and a handball — what matters is trying different movements, different rules and different ways of playing.
Yes — that is exactly what H10 Kids is for. Nobody needs to arrive knowing how to bounce, serve or shoot: the class starts from play, and playing is how children learn. Each one moves at their own pace.
A class has three parts. It opens with a warm-up — a guided game that brings the group together and introduces the theme of the day. Then comes the main part, with the challenges, tasks and sport experiences planned for that session. And it ends with a final part, as a group: questions, challenges and prompts that get the children interacting. The class does not end when the ball stops — that closing is where a child talks, listens and gets closer to the others, and it is as much social as it is sporting.
Running, jumping, bouncing, throwing, balancing — the movement vocabulary every sport later builds on. The logic of the game: reading a situation, deciding, working with a teammate, dealing with mistakes. And how to be with others: sharing space, waiting a turn, winning and losing together. That is what we mean by physical, cognitive and social-emotional development.
It is our own methodology, built on a game-based approach: children come to understand the logic of the game by playing, not by drilling technique. The coach sets up situations where they try things, explore, decide and reinvent. It was developed by Valter Costa, pedagogical director of H10 Kids, a teacher and speaker on sport pedagogy with 18 years in youth development programs at Esporte Clube Pinheiros.
There are no championships, tryouts or rankings. At 5, 6 and 7 the aim is to build a taste for playing, and that does not come from pressure to win. Competing happens inside the games themselves: it is part of playing, and it ends when the game does.
The class is built with that in mind. It starts with a game that involves the whole group, not a queue of drills, and each child settles in at their own pace. And the closing part exists precisely to create interaction: questions and challenges where every child speaks, listens and gets closer to the others.
They move on to one of H10's other schools: futsal, volleyball, handball or basketball. That is the path — the time at H10 Kids is what lets them get to know the sports and reach that choice with something to draw on. The choice is theirs, and the family is part of the conversation.
